- MyIO - Streamlining the Visa Process
MyIO (International Office) is a portal for international students, visitors and UT Departments and Units to process immigration documents and manage immigration-related data.
- Upon formal admission to UT Austin, international students receive an email from International Student and Scholar Services with a link to myIO. This email includes a list of e-forms to complete, and information needed in order for UT Austin to issue immigration documents.
- One of the benefits of MyIO is that it captures the full scope and needs of immigration status for incoming students and visitors. The system pushes documents through each step and to each approver, making the process faster, smoother, trackable, and much more visible than ever before.
- One of the gamechangers in MyIO is 'Inviting a J-1 Exchange Visitor.' When a faculty member identifies an international visitor whom they'd like to bring to UT to collaborate on research initiatives, it's no longer guess work as to when the visa requirements are completed and the traveler may head to UT Austin.

The Departmental link to MyIO provides a unit level tool for immigration case management that's utilized by Texas Global to assist International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS).
- Departmental and unit staff who need to assist students and other scholars with their immigration status are required to attend training before being able to access the system.
- The required training isn't exactly a one-stop effort. Because MyIO is a streamlined tool for handling immigration status, the type of training staff need relates to HR rules and practices concerning hiring international individuals.
- Even though the training is signficant, it's worth it. This streamlined web experience truly streamlines what used to be a laborious and confusing process. If only other systems could get it as right as MyIO does!
