Semesterly drop-ins: Drop-in advising is available for students in the major to ask quick questions between 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm on Wednesdays and from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Fridays. Please see us in person in PAR 114-120 or virtually.
**Drop-in advising has stopped due to the summer semester. Drop-ins will resume in August.**

Current Rhetoric and Writing Majors
Please feel free to visit our drop-in hours (details at top of page) or gulliver@austin.utexas.edu for general inquiries. A good rule of thumb is to utilize the drop-ins or gulliver e-mail for questions that would not involve looking up your academic record. For anything else, let's have a conversation! You can set up a meeting through the links below:
**Incoming Students: Please do NOT book an advising appointment. Please register for Orientation instead. You will meet with an advisor at Orientation, and your advising hold will be cleared at that time. Questions can be directed to the email above.
- Other Helpful Resources
If you are a current UT Rhetoric and Writing major, we are happy to help you. Though we may refer you to another campus resource for more detailed assistance, we're always eager to try to assist you as you navigate the university. That said, a few common concerns are handled primarily by other offices:
- Texas One Stop: financial aid and billing; outgoing transcripts and certifications
- Liberal Arts Career Services: career exploration, job search coaching, internship guidance, etc.
- Liberal Arts Student Division: Q-drops, Withdrawals, Pass/Fail transactions; Graduation Applications and related items

- Admitted Rhetoric and Writing Majors
Welcome to the university! We look forward to working with you. Your first advising step is to sign up for orientation through New Student Services. As part of your orientation, you’ll meet one-on-one with an Academic Advisor. Because your registration time is tied to your orientation session, there is no registration advantage to meeting with an advisor prior to orientation. If you have a pressing question, though, please feel free to send it to gulliver@austin.utexas.edu.
