Event Planning & Co-Sponsorship
The Center for Middle Eastern Studies sponsors and co-sponsors over 40 events each semester. We are happy to support scholarly events and performances that engage with the Middle East and its history, cultures, or languages in the context of various disciplines. As a National Resource Center (NRC) funded by a Title VI grant from the Department of Education, CMES in its events programming strives to uphold the first Absolute Priority outlined by the NRC program: to "reflect diverse perspectives and a wide range of views and generate debate on world regions and international affairs."
If you are interested in organizing an event with the Center, please fill out the Event Request Form.
If you are another unit seeking co-sponsorship for your unit's event, please contact the Director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, Karen Grumberg. You must submit your co-sponsorship request at least 60 days prior to proposed event date.
To help you select a date for your event, please refer to the MES Events Calendar, which is continously updated with important dates and events related to MES.
After every event, please fill out the Post-Event Survey. There are separate sections for events organized by MES, events co-sponsored by MES, and events unaffiliated with MES but Middle East-related.
