Drop-in Hours: Wednesday 1:00-3:00 p.m. and Friday 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

**First Week of Classes: Drop-In Advising will be available Monday-Friday 8:30-noon and 1-4:30 p.m.**

Drop-ins are available virtually or in person (PAR 114-120)

Registration Info: Please note that if you plan to make changes to your schedule, you can freely add yourself to open classes until the 4th class day (January 16th) and drop classes yourself (delete-drop) until the 12th class day (January 29th). Late-adding classes (1/17-1/29) is only allowed with the offering department's permission. If you have questions, please attend drop-in advising (above) or view our FAQs.

Am I in the Right Place?

If you are a current Linguistics major at UT Austin, probably so! Though we may refer you to another campus resource for additional assistance, we're always eager to assist you as you navigate the university. That being said, a few common concerns are handled primarily by other offices:

Texas One Stop: financial aid, tuition and billing; transcripts and certifications
Liberal Arts Career Services and Texas Career Engagement: major or career exploration, coaching for your job search, internship questions and guidance, etc.
Liberal Arts Student Division: Dean's Office requests, including Q-drops, Withdrawals, and Pass/Fail transactions; Graduation Applications and related items.

To talk through your Q-drop, Withdrawal, and Pass/Fail options before visiting the Student Division, please make an appointment with us through the links in the next section.

Current Linguistics Majors
Please feel free to e-mail gulliver@austin.utexas.edu with any general inquiries. A good rule of thumb is to utilize e-mail for any quick questions that wouldn't require looking up your personal academic record. Admitted Linguistics Students
Welcome to the university! We look forward to working with you. Your first advising step is to sign up for orientation through New Student Services. As part of your orientation, you’ll meet one-on-one with an Academic Advisor. Because your registration time is tied to your orientation session, there is no registration advantage to meeting with an advisor prior to orientation. If you have a pressing question, though, please feel free to send it to gulliver@austin.utexas.edu.
